Paynter’s Knicks Go wins Horse of the Year, Champion Older Male Eclipse Awards

A brilliant 2021 campaign earned Knicks Go a pair of Eclipse Awards during Thursday’s ceremony at Santa Anita Park, taking home the Horse of the Year and Champion Older Male awards.

Owned by the Korean Racing Authority, Knicks Go captured the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), Whitney S. (G1), Lukas Classic (G3) and Cornhusker H. (G3) by a combined 21 lengths. He finished his career with seven graded stakes wins and earnings of $9,258,135.

Knicks Go is the rare horse who won or placed in graded events over four seasons, beginning with Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at two and culminating with his 2021 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) win, where he earned a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 112.

Paynter was a top-10 General Sire of 2021, with nine stakes winners, 15 stakes horses and nearly $13.9 in progeny earnings. Already with five stakes horses this year, Paynter’s fee for 2022 is $10,000 S&N.
