Pioneerof the Nile weanlings bring big numbers at Keeneland

The opening day of the 2017 Keeneland November Sale yielded stellar results for Pioneerof the Nile, who had colts go through the ring for $425,000 and $350,000 during Tuesday’s session.

Hip No. 101, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, was the top price of the day for his sire, with Baccari Bloodstock the winning bidder. The bay colt is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Azar out of Miss Ocean City, who is a sister to a pair of stakes winners.

Shortly after, hip No. 106, consigned by Glennwood Farm, agent, went to West Bloodstock on behalf of Repole Stable. The dark bay colt is out of Mythical Bride, who is a half-sister to WinStar stallion Commissioner and the graded stakes winner Laugh Track.

Pioneerof the Nile’s young stud career includes two champions in his first four crops, including Horse of the Year American Pharoah, whose first crop are weanlings this year. Two of his million-dollar earners, Midnight Storm and Classic Empire, will be starting their stud careers in 2018.
