Super Saver filly draws off to first stakes win

Best of Me was the best of the field in Sunday’s Washington State Legislators S. at Emerald Downs, pulling away to a three-length victory for the 4-year-old’s first stakes win (VIDEO).

A good fourth in last year’s Great Lady M Stakes (G2), Best of Me is 4-0-1 in nine starts and has earned $136,130 for owners Todd and Shawn Hansen. She is the seventh stakes horse this year for Super Saver, whose progeny earnings recently topped the $20 million mark.

Best of Me found her stride not long after the break, and by the time she covered the first quarter-mile, she was in front by a neck. She doubled the margin around the turn, and added another length in the stretch to finish the 6 1/2-furlongs in 1:16.04.

Bred by John Gunther, Best of Me was the first foal out of Lemon Gin, who is a half-sister to millionaire and Godolphin Mile (G2) winner Tamarkuz and closely related to Travers S. (G1) Stay Thirsty and classic-placed Andromeda’s Hero.
