Super Saver tallies another big MdSpWt winner

Runhappy rallied from last to win his debut by a widening 8 ¼-lengths Sunday at Turfway Park to become Super Saver’s 16th winner from his first crop.

With just a few days left in 2014, Super Saver is one of only two freshman sires to have progeny earnings in excess of $1.5 million and leads all First-crop sire with seven stakes horses and four stakes winners.

Runhappy, owned by Jim McIngvale, had to overcome a poor start, but quickly righted things and was well on his way to victory after three furlongs. He wrapped up the 6 ½-furlongs in 1:17.13.

McIngvale purchased Runhappy for $200,000 at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale. The bay colt was bred in Kentucky by Wayne, Gray and Bryan Lyster.
