Three half-million-plus Pioneerof the Nile colts at Keeneland Day 2

Pioneerof the Nile was one of only two sires to have at least three half-million dollar yearlings during Day 2 of the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Topping the day’s activity for the WinStar stallion was hip No. 346, consigned by Woods Edge Farm, agent and purchased for $650,000 by Bob Baffert. The flashy dark bay colt is out of the Pulpit mare Flat Screen and is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Native Bombshell.

Hip Nos. 266 and 396 both brought winning bids of $500,000. The former, consigned by Baccari Bloodstock, was bought by China Horse Club and Maverick Racing. The latter was consigned by Hunter Valley Farm, agent and went to Horton Racing LLC. The colt is a full brother to Holy Bull S. (G2) and Nashua S. (G2) winner Cairo Prince.

Pioneerof the Nile has an additional 44 yearlings remaining in the catalog for the September sale, which runs through September 25.
