Three new SWs in 11 days for Artie Schiller

Breeders’ Cup Champion Artie Schiller sired three new stakes winners from July 24 to August 3, including a Group 1 winner and a two-year-old.

Newest added-money winner was Dorsett, commanding victor of the $200,000 Mystic Lake Derby at Canterbury Downs. The 3-year-old sped home in 1:35.69 for the one-mile event on the turf. Bred in Kentucky, and out of the Machiavellian mare Dontgetinmyway, Dorsett has amassed a record of 9-3-1-1 and earnings of $194,670 for owner Terry Hamilton and trainer Michael Stidham.

Just a week earlier, juvenile Hop the Six zipped gate-to-wire in the $50,000 White Clay Creek S. over 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt at Delaware Park. The bay filly out of Pulpit’s daughter Pulpit Fiction, sped the opening quarter in a blistering :21.2 under Jeremy Rose, and was 3 1/2 lengths clear at the wire. Racing for breeder Elkstone Group LLC, Hop the Six has compiled a record of 3-2-1-0 and $64,000.

Starting the streak of stakes wins was Cakal Carlos (Tur), who won the $126,312 Beyoglu (G1) at Veliefendi Racecourse in Istanbul, Turkey. The three-year-old, who sold in utero at the Keeneland November Sale in 2009, had run second in the $238,556 Gazi Derby (G1) in his prior start, on June 30th.

Artie Schiller has now sired 30 stakes horses, 16 stakes winners, from his first four crops. The Grade 1 winner and multi-millionaire by El Prado stood the 2013 season at WinStar for $10,000 live foal.
