You’re to Blame digs deep to win $200,000 Greenwood Cup (G3)

You’re to Blame wore down heavily favored War Story in deep stretch win the 1 1/2-mile Greenwood Cup (G3) on Labor Day at Parx, giving the 4-year-old Distorted Humor colt his first stakes victory.

He is the sixth graded stakes winner this year for his sire, who was also represented over the Labor Day weekend by Spinaway S. (G1) runner-up Restless Rider.

You’re to Blame had never been past nine furlongs in his career, but got the best of the more experienced War Story with an extremely game stretch drive after stalking his foe most of the way, never yielding despite the runner-up’s relentless effort.

You’re to Blame, who placed in last year’s Bay Shore S. (G3), is now 5-3-4 in 18 starts and has banked $451,175 for Bortolazzo Stable. The winner is out of three-time stakes winner Bon Jovi Girl, who is a sister to the multiple champion and sire Gio Ponti.

You’re to Blame, bred by Bryant Prentice III, sold for $400,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
