Splendora, a 4-year-old daughter of Audible, will try to make it three wins in a row on Saturday at Del Mar in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1).
The Bob Baffert-trained filly was a dominant, 5 ½-length winner of the Tranquility Lake S. over this same Del Mar surface on Sept. 1 and won an allowance race very handily, also at Del Mar, on July 24. Overall, she has finished worse than second only once in nine starts for owner By Talla Racing LLC.
Splendora drew post 2 for the seven-furlong contest that has a field of 10. She will be ridden for the first time by Flavien Prat.
Splendora, who was bred by The Elkstone Group LLC, has earned $340,800 to date. The dark bay filly is one of Audible’s four stakes winners this year and helped solidify his position in the top-10 on the Third-Crop sire list.
Saturday’s race, #4 on the card, will run at 3:00 pm ET. The Breeders’ Cup is airing live across NBC, USA Network and Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, as well as on multiple online wagering platforms.
