The fastest G1 winning sprinter in the world in 2024, Cogburn is by the outstanding young sire, Not This Time. Not This Time has enjoyed tremendous success with the Awesome Again branch of Deputy Minister. He has a Champion out of a mare by Ghostzapper, a G1W out of a mare by Wilko, and a millionaire out of a mare by Awesome Again himself. This also suggests mares by Paynter and Oxbow. Deputy Minister is a Northern Dancer line horse, and Not This Time already has two BTWs from the Sadler’s Wells branch through Medaglia d‘Oro (sire of Violence and Warrior’s Reward) and Paddy O’Prado, both sons of El Prado. Not This Time has a G1W out of a mare by Speightstown (sire of Munnings) from the Gone West line. From this line, Not This Time also has a BTW out of a mare by a son of Mr. Greeley, suggesting Elusive Quality (sire of Quality Road), Grand Slam and Proud Citizen. Not This Time has GSWs out of mares by Candy Ride from the Fappiano line. On the cross with Fappiano line mares, there is a G2W out of a mare by Unbridled son, Empire Maker, and a BTW out of a mare by his son Pioneerof the Nile (sire of American Pharoah, Cairo Prince and Classic Empire). There has also been success for this cross through mares by Midnight Lute and Broken Vow, and there is GSW from a mare by Unbridled’s Song, sire of Not This Time’s half-brother Liam’s Map. From other branches of Mr. Prospector there is a GSW from a mare by Smart Strike (sire of Curlin, Lookin At Lucky and English Channel), and BTWs out of mares by Street Sense and Street Hero (both by Street Cry) and City Zip. There are five BTWs from A.P. Indy line mares, including a G1W out of a mare by Pulpit, a GSW out of a mare by Tapit, and BTWs from mares by A.P. Indy, Friends Lake and Mineshaft (bred on the same cross as Malibu Moon, Flatter and Congrats).
