One of the most talented members of his generation, Two Phil’s is by Danzig’s world record-breaking stallion son, Hard Spun, and out of a multiple BTW/multiple Graded-placed sprinter. Hard Spun has crossed well with mares from the Mr. Prospector line. Particularly outstanding has been the Gone West branch through such as by Speightstown, Grand Slam, Mr. Greeley, Elusive Quality, Proud Citizen and Came Home. Hard Spun has also enjoyed exceptional success with the Fappiano branch, including through Quiet American (grandsire of Midnight Lute) and Unbridled, including through Empire Maker and Unbridled’s Song and sons. Looking at other branches of Mr. Prospector, we can note success with Smart Strike, Carson City, Distorted Humor, Fusaichi Pegasus and Kingmambo. Hard Spun has enjoyed success with the Storm Cat branch of Northern Dancer, including via Tactical Cat, Forest Wildcat, Giant’s Causeway and Stormy Atlantic. The cross of Hard Spun and sons with mares from the Sadler’s Wells branch has produced BTWs out of mares by Medaglia d’Oro, Kitten’s Joy and Galileo. A.P. Indy will be back in the fifth generation of Two Phil’s offspring and it would be worth crossing him back over mares from this line, including through Congrats—a brother to Flatter—with other sources including Malibu Moon, Mineshaft and Bernardini. Out of mares from the Roberto line, Hard Spun has GSWs out of mares by Red Ransom and Arch (sire of Blame) and a BTW out of a mare by Dynaformer (sire of Temple City, Point of Entry and Brilliant Speed). Hard Spun also has G1Ws from daughters of Lonhro and Cozzene.
