Mindframe leads trio of Breeders’ Cup runners for Constitution

Top-five General sire of 2025 Constitution will be represented by three runners in this year’s Breeders’ Cup championships Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Del Mar, led by Mindframe in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) on Saturday.

The action gets started for Constitution on Friday though, with La Wally in the $2 million Juvenile Fillies (G1), which is race 7 at 6:25 pm ET. La Wally drew the outside post in the field of nine 2-year-olds. The bay filly won her first start at Del Mar on July 19, and has come back to place in both the Del Mar Debutante (G1) and Oak Leaf S. (G2). A $300,000 Keeneland yearling, La Wally is owned by Muir Hut Stables LLC and was bred by Gage Hill Stable II, LLC, W. S. Farish& Ken Langone.

Saturday Patriot Spirit is part of a full field of 14 in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1), which is race 6 at 4:21 pm ET. Patriot Spirit has improved throughout the year, winning the historic Vosburgh S. (G3) in his most recent start. Trained by Mike Campbell for George Mellon, Patriot Spirit was bred in Kentucky by Blue Heaven Farm. Patriot Spirit will break from post 4 in the six-furlong contest.

In the 1 ¼-mile Classic, Mindframe was assigned post 8 in arguably the best Classic field ever assembled. Mindframe has been nearly perfect in eight lifetime starts, winning five times and finishing second twice. His only off the board finish was last time out when he lost his rider soon after the start of the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1). Mindframe sold to his owners Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable LLC for $600,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling sale. Bred by R. Larry Johnson, the dark bay has earned $1,844,580.

The Classic is race 9 at 6:25 pm ET.

The Breeders’ Cup is airing live across NBC, USA Network and Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, as well as on multiple online wagering platforms.
