Heart of Paradise looked like a seasoned pro in her debut Thursday at Santa Anita, getting tested early, then drawing away with authority in the lane to win her five furlong maiden special weight affair by 2 1/2-lengths (VIDEO).
The More Than Ready filly, owned by her trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, in partnership with Dan Hoefflin and George Todaro, got the distance in a quick :57.76 seconds, just a second off the track record.
Heart of Paradise is out of the Speightstown mare Paradise Playgirl, whose other foal is six-figure earner Cowboy Prince. Hollendorfer was the winning bidder, at $145,000, for Heart of Paradise at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
