Artie’s Love shows style in maiden romp

Artie Schiller, a top-10 second crop sire in Kentucky, had a good-looking maiden winner Sept. 1 at Hoosier Park when Artie’s Love broke his maiden going six furlongs by a geared-down 5 1/2-lengths.

Two-year-old Artie’s Love dueled Walter and Neal for the first half mile before putting away that foe at the top of the stretch, drawing off to an easy win for trainer Robert Gorham and owner Mast Thoroughbreds LLC.

Artie’s Love is one of four winners out of Highland Love, who is a full sister to three-time stakes winner Highland Vixen. The bay juvenile was bred in Indiana by Lake Shore Farm.

Artie Schiller has accounted for seven stakes horses in 2011, including Anne’s Beauty, recent winner of the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen S. at Woodbine.
