Breeding expert Bill Oppenheim opined:

“Take Charge Indy, the 4-year-old colt by A.P. Indy out of the top racemare Take Charge Lady, dual Grade 1 winner of $2.4-million for trainer Kenny McPeek. He won the Florida Derby (G1) wire-to-wire last year, but until Friday he had never run a Beyer above 101. On Friday, he looked the finished article, and polished off a pretty good field with a minimum of fuss in the Alysheba S. (G2), clocking a Beyer of 109.

“He was a future WinStar stallion anyway, and these days that’s a big advantage to start with, but that race Friday moved him up a notch in my book. If he comes back and meets Successful Dan in the Stephen Foster (G1), the winner of that could be frontrunner for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and Horse of the Year. It was that good a race, I thought.”
