Distorted Humor tops $10M mark in '11
Distorted Humor, the nation's leading sire in terms of progeny earnings with over $10 million, added to his impressive total on Dec. 3 with Pedrolino's victory in the $50,000 Claiming Crown Iron Horse S. at Fair Grounds. Pedrolino is the 18th stakes winner of 2011 for his sire, which also puts the WinStar Farm stallion in the top spot in that category.

Pedrolino galloped to a 7 3/4-length victory in the 1 1/16 mile Iron Horse, coming from fourth at the half-way mark to get the lead at the top of the Fair Grounds stretch. He drew off with authority and was eased up late by Robby Albarado, getting the distance on a fast track in 1:45.13.

“Doug (winning trainer Doug Matthews) said to keep him quiet but at the same time keep him forward and it worked out well,” Albarado said afterward.

John Wade owns the 5-year-old Pedrolino, who is now 6-4-1 in 18 starts. He has earned $147,038. Bred in Kentucky by Silverleaf Farm, Pedrolino sold for $950,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale. He is half-brother to Grade 1 winner Trust N Luck and the two-time stakes winner Grand Veranda.
