Harlan’s Holiday gets 2nd SW in two days

Someplace Else shipped to New Mexico to score a 3 3/4-length victory Sunday in the $60,000 Chaves County S. at Zia Park, giving his sire Harlan’s Holiday his second stakes winner this weekend. Harlan’s Holiday struck first on Saturday in the $400,000 Champagne S. (G1) at Belmont Park, when Shanghai Bobby rolled to a five-length win.

The one-mile Chaves, for fillies and mares three and up, proved to be little problem for even-money favorite Someplace Else. The 4-year-old was fourth after six furlongs, but only two lengths from the front. She circled the field with a five-wide move coming into the stretch and rolled to the front full of energy to hit the wire in 1:37.19, less than a second off the track record.

Someplace Else, who has already accounted for the $81,000 Iowa Breeders’ Oaks and $93,925 Donna Reed S., is now 7-8-1 in 18 starts. The Prairie Lane Farms homebred has earned $353,672.
