A colt by Bodemeister brought $500,000 during the first session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearlings sale on Monday evening. The price was the highest paid for a stallion represented by his first crop in 2015.
For the evening, all five of Bodemeister’s offering sold for a total of $1,550,000, an average of $310,000, also a first-year sires best.
Hip No. 38, a bay colt, was consigned by Dromoland Farm, agent. The Kentucky-bred is out of the multiple graded stakes winner Awesome Humor and was purchased by Al Shaqab Racing.
Hip No. 98, a filly consigned by Paramount Sales, went to John Oxley for $400,000. The filly is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Edison.a
Brookdale Sales consigned hip No. 81, a gray or roan colt that brought a winning bid of $235,000 from Crupi’s New Castle, agent. The colt is out of Exceptionally, a full sister to Grade 2 winner Swingin On Ice.
Dromoland also sold hip No. 2, which went to Blue Devil Racing for $215,000. The filly is the first foal out of the stakes winner Tara from the Cape and her third dam is the millionaire Irish Linnet.
Hip No. 39 was consigned by Four Star Sales and sold for $200,000 to Bradley Thoroughbreds LLC. The dark bay filly is out of the stakes-winning Touch Gold mare Ayla Bella.
