Paynter’s first crop continues to bring big bids at Keeneland

The first yearlings offered at auction by Paynter have been some of the most sought-after of any sire of his generation, with a new high-water mark of $120,000 for a colt by the WinStar stallion during the second session of the Jan. 11-15 Keeneland January sale.

The colt, hip No. 449, was sold by Chilly Bleak Farm, Agent and purchased by Canaan Creek Stables, LLC. The bay juvenile is out of the Distorted Humor mare Hottie Dancer, who is a daughter of Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Pike Place Dancer.

Paynter’s first crop numbers include a reported 127 mares bred in 2014. He is standing this year at WinStar for $20,000 live foal.
