Constitution’s Haute Diva gets first stakes win on New Year’s Day

Haute Diva rallied strongly to win a three-horse photo in the $150,000 Cash Run S. at Gulfstream Park on New Year’s Day to give the newly-turned 3-year-old daughter of Constitution her first stakes victory.

The JSM Equine LLC homebred, who has been worse than second only once in her career, trailed the field down the backstretch of the one-turn mile. Secane set a moderate half-mile pace of :48.48 as they entered the turn, with Haute Diva launching her bid with three furlongs to run. She steadily gained ground to be within a length of the leader at the top of the stretch. Nycon joined the fray, and the trio raced together down the stretch, with Haute Diva getting the win by a neck over Nycon.

“I went to the turf [Dec. 6 at Gulfstream] for the two turns because she wants distance anyway, and after she ran well the other day we said, ‘Let’s go [back] to the dirt.’ [Jockey] David [Egan] knows her and he rode her perfectly,” trainer Patrick Biancone said. “She’s still a big baby. She will improve a lot from that.”

With the win, Haute Diva is 2-4-0 in seven starts and has earned $158,635. Haute Diva is out of Diva Style and is a half-sister to two-time stakes winner Stonevicious. Diva Style herself is a half-sister to Constitution’s four-time Grade 1 winner and young sire Tiz the Law.

Constitution, a top-five General Sire over the past two years, had 11 stakes winners, four graded winners and progeny earnings of nearly $16 million in 2025. Constitution has 80 lifetime stakes winners worldwide going into 2026 and will stand for $110,000 S&N this year.
