Rushing Fall returns in style to take Beaugay S. (G3)

More Than Ready’s four-time Grade 1 winner Rushing Fall made her 2020 debut with a sharp score in the $100,000 Beaugay S. (G3) Wednesday at Belmont Park, winning the 1 1/16-mile turf contest by two lengths.

Winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) in 2017, the now 5-year-old is now 9-2-0 in 12 starts and has earned $2,068,000 for e Five Racing Thoroughbreds.

Rushing Fall was sent right to the front at the break by regular rider Javier Castellano, with Got Stormy just a length behind. The running order didn’t change through the first six furlongs, which went in 1:11.56. In upper stretch, Rushing Fall sprinted away from the field to win full of run.

“I have to give a lot of credit to the crew at Stonestreet Farm. Ian Brennan and his team rehab a lot of our horses and they did an excellent job with her over the winter,” said winning trainer Chad Brown. “I also give credit to [owner] Bob Edwards. She would’ve brought a lot of money. I’m so happy for him and his family. She came back better than ever.”

Rushing Fall’s other Grade 1 victories came in the QEII Cup, Jenny Wiley S., and Just a Game S. She was bred in Kentucky by Fred W. Hertrich III and John D. Fielding. Rushing Fall’s dam Autumnal has also produced stakes winner Milam and stakes-placed Autumn Song.

Pedigree notes from the TDN:

One of 202 stakes winners, 91 graded stakes winners and 24 Grade I winners for More Than Ready, Rushing Fall is the third black-type performer out of Autumnal, a $260,000 purchase at Keeneland November in 2007. The 18-year-old mare produced a full-brother to Rushing Fall Mar. 24.
