Bellamy Road 2yos average $468,333 at OBS March Sale

Buoyed by an $800,000 bid for a filly during the first day of the OBS March Sale of Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training, Bellamy Road’s three lots that went through the ring during the March 17-18 auction averaged a sparkling $468,333.

Catalogued as hip No. 139 and consigned by Northwest Stud, Agent, the Kentucky bred chestnut was bought by Solis/Litt on behalf of LNJ Foxwoods. Bred by WinStar Farm, the filly was a $155,000 purchase out of last year’s Keeneland September sale.

The daughter of For Royalty, Not For Love, caught the attention of buyers at the Under Tack show, when she breezed a co-fastest eighth-mile in :9 4/5. The filly hails from the same family as Grade 1 winners Spun Sugar and Daaher.

On day two, hip No. 496 went for $415,000 to Little Red Feather Racing. Consigned by Thomas and Casse, agents, the gray/roan colt is out of the multiple stakes winner Throbbin’ Heart and is a half-brother to the stakes-placed filly Roaming.

Bellamy Road also had the very first horse go through the ring on Tuesday, when hip No. 1, a filly consigned by Mayberry Farm, sold for $190,000 to John McCormack Bloodstock. The filly’s dam, Calamity Girl, was stakes-placed and has yet to have a foal race. She comes from the same family as champion grass horse Tight Spot.
