MIndframe rolled to an astonishing 13 ¾-length maiden special weight debut victory on Florida Derby day at Gulfstream Park and was named a TDN Rising Star following the incredible performance.

The dark bay son of Constitution was well-backed in the seven-furlong race, and did not disappoint his supporters. He broke well and settled in fourth while Assertor blitzed through an opening quarter-mile in :21.92. Going into the turn, Mindframe quickly closed in on the leaders and took over the top spot just before turning for home despite racing well off the rail. He ran up the score in the stretch while under a hand ride to finish up in 1:21.72 on a fast track.

Mindframe earned a 103 Beyer Speed Figure, the highest number for any horse at the distance in 2024.

“We were anticipating a big debut,” said winning trainer Todd Pletcher. “I thought that was something special there. He trained outstanding coming into the race. He’s been doing everything right. Everything has come very easily for him. I wasn’t sure if he was fit enough until his last gate work. It surprised me. He hasn’t had much of a body of work leading into it, so much of this is on natural talent.”

Mindframe, who sold for $600,000 at the Keeneland 2022 September Yearling sale, is owned by Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable LLC. Bred in Maryland by R. Larry Johnson, Mindframe is out of the stakes winner Walk of Stars and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Hollywood Walk.

Constitution is currently seventh on the 2024 General Sire List with $2.9 million in progeny earnings. Among his six stakes winners this year is leading Kentucky Derby (G1) candidate Catching Freedom, winner of the Louisiana Derby (G2).
