Parchment Party made his 2026 debut a winning one in Saturday’s $200,000 Temperence Hill S. at Oaklawn Park, taking the 1 ½-mile marathon by a half-length over a game Jokestar.
The 5-year-old son of Constitution had taken the winter off following a trip to Australia for the Melbourne Cup (G1) in early November. Prior to that race, he won both the Birdstone S. and Belmont Gold Cup (G3) at Saratoga in what were his first two stakes races on the main track.
Parchment Party was part of a field of six in Saturday’s contest. Forged Steel set a very moderate pace, with Parchment Party sitting a no more than three lengths off the lead in fifth through the first six furlongs.
After passing the midway point of the backstretch, Jokestar and Parchment Party moved in tandem to challenge Forged Steel for the lead, setting the stage for a three-way battle. The trio were side-by-side until inside the final furlong, when Parchment Party edged clear to secure the win.
Owned by Pin Oak Stud LLC and trained by Bill Mott, Parchment Party is 5-1-1 in 13 starts and has earned $493,985. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Bobby Flay Thoroughbreds and sold for $450,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September sale.
Parchment Party is out of Life Well Lived, who is a half-sister to Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Well Armed.
A perennial top-10 General Sire, Constitution has already accounted for 14 stakes horses in 2026, second to only Into Mischief. Constitution is the sire of Kentucky Derby (G1) hopeful Chief Wallable, who is currently 12th on the Derby points list and was beaten just a half-length in yesterday’s Florida Derby (G1).
