Glorious Boy won the $100,000 Pulpit S. Saturday at Gulfstream Park in thrilling fashion to give Independence Hall his first stakes winner.
With a big closing move in the final furlong, Glorious Boy and Bronze Bullet dead-heated for the win, but Bronze Bullet was placed second following both a stewards’ inquiry and jockey’s objection after the two made contact in the final strides.
“I objected because there was some contact that I felt impeded my horse,” said Glorious Boy’s rider Rajiv Maragh. “In the moment, it was so close I wasn’t sure if I won, so I made sure I claimed foul.”
Owned by the Centurion Thoroughbred Club, Glorious Boy is 2-1-0 in five starts and has earned $136,260. The bay 2-year-old was bred in Kentucky by Vossfeld Bloodstock LLC.
Independence Hall, the leading First-Crop sire by both graded stakes horses and Grade 1 horses, will stand the 2026 season at WinStar Farm for $10,000 S&N.
