The superb returns for Super Saver during Tuesday evening’s session of the Aug. 7-8 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearlings sale were topped by a $425,000 colt by the WinStar stallion.
The session also included a $275,000 filly and $235,000 colt for the Kentucky Derby-winning sire of champion Runhappy.
The $425,000 colt, hip No. 125 was consigned by Darby Dan Farm, agent and went to Centennial Farms. The bay colt is the first produce of the graded stakes-placed mare Appreciating, who is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Buddy’s Humor and Mona Mia, the dam of millionaire Grade 1 winner Celestine.
The $275,000 filly, hip No. 211, went to Fox Hill Farm. She is out of the Street Cry (IRE) mare Intentional Cry and her second dam is the $1.5 million earner Gold Mover.
Hip No. 116, the $235,000 colt, went to Spendthrift Farm. The chestnut youngster is to Governor Malibu, a stakes winner of over $625,000, and the Japanese Grade 1-placed Rieno Tesoro.
For the year, Super Saver’s yearlings have brought an average price of $180,750.
