Back Flip scored a wire-to-wire maiden special weight victory Sunday at Gulfstream Park to give Super Saver his 12th winner from his first crop. He also topped the $1.3 million progeny earnings mark, one of only two freshman sires to achieve the feat this year.
WinStar recently announced that Super Saver will stand the 2015 season for $35,000 live foal.
Bred by WinStar, Back Flip controlled the 1 1/16-mile contest from the outset, never letting any of her foes closer than a length of the lead at any point, ultimately crossing the wire a 3 ¼-length winner.
Back Flip was a $200,000 purchase out of this April’s OBS Spring 2-year-old sale. She is owned by Bortolazzo Stable LLC and trained by Todd Pletcher. Back Flip is the first foal out of For Royalty, a stakes winner at two who has pair of stakes-winning siblings.
