Tiznow’s Kentuckian a TDN Rising Star after incredible debut

In a race reminiscent of his half-brother Maclean’s Music unveiling, Kentuckian turned in a devastating performance in his maiden special weight debut Saturday at Golden Gate Fields, romping by 11 lengths and stopping the timer in 1:08.96 for the six furlongs (VIDEO).

Breaking in a line, the steel-gray 3-year-old son of Tiznow emerged from the pack in the first furlong to secure the lead. With Russell Baze sitting motionless the entire trip, Kentuckian nevertheless sprinted away from the field with deceptive ease at the head of the stretch and was all by himself in the camera for the final furlong.

Kentuckian, who earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 90 for the effort, is the 11th TDN Rising Star for his sire. 

Kentuckian was bred by Stonestreet and is out of Forest Music, herself a two-time graded stakes winner who also debuted in a manner similar to her offspring. Kentuckian races in the colors of Fox Hill Farm, who bought the colt as a yearling for $610,000 at the Keeneland September sale.
