Bellamy Road colt brings $175 at Timonium

A 2-year-old colt by Bellamy Road sold for $175,000 May 24 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale, bringing the highest price at auction this year for his sire’s offspring. The dark bay/brown colt is part from the second crop of the Paul’s Mill stallion, who is second on the sophomore sire list in terms of earnings.

Stephens Thoroughbreds LLC, agent, consigned the colt as hip No. 260. The final bidder was F. Thomas Conway, and was his only purchase of the sale. Prior to the sale, Conway’s purchase worked an eighth mile in :11 1/5 seconds while well off the rail over a sloppy Timonium surface. View the workout here.

The juvenile is out of the unraced Vicar mare Predictress. She is the dam of Three Day Rush, winner of the Monmouth Park NATC Futurity S. and Whirlaway S. at Aqueduct. Predictress is a half-sister to the  multiple graded stakes winning filly Prophet’s Warning and comes from the same family as the top-class Double Honor, who took the Sapling S. (G3) and placed in the Norfolk S. (G2), Bashford Manor (G3), and Sanford S. (G3), all at age 2.
