Super Saver: #1 Freshman Sire at F-T July

Super Saver became the number one freshman sire by average at the Fasig Tipton July Sale on July 15 at the central Kentucky auction house. He made his way to the top averaging $178,333 with 6 yearlings in the sale.

His best seller, hip 228, was a beautiful filly consigned by James B. Keogh who brought a winning bid of $250,000 from Conquest Stables. The bay filly is out of Dance Alexa, who has produced five winners, two of them being black type.

His second highest priced yearling was hip 54, an impressive filly consigned by Baccari Bloodstock LLC that sold for $165,000 to Hartley/ De Renzo Thoroughbreds. The dark bay filly is out of Lunargal, a Yes It’s True mare who is sister to stakes winner Lunarlady.

Hip 140 also reached six figures for her stallion selling for $120,000. The filly was sold to Xavier Int’l Bloodstock and consigned by Taylor Made Sales.

So far, Super Saver yearlings have been the buzz around the sales grounds. ”Super Saver’s yearlings are the best I’ve seen by a freshman sire,” said pinhooker Randy Hartley of Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds. Breeders who invested in a Super Saver foal received, on average, almost 9 times what they paid for the stud fee.

Super Saver’s next yearlings will be sold at Saratoga NY Bred Preferred Yearlings sale on August 10th.  Super Saver is currently at WinStar Farm for $20,000 stands and nurses.
