Constitution’s Oceanic a runaway winner of the $150,000 Da Hoss S.

Oceanic picked up his first stakes victory Tuesday at Colonial Downs when the son of Constitution rolled to a 3 ¾-length victory in the $150,000 Da Hoss S.

Oceanic is Constitution’s 11th stakes winner this year, which leads all Fourth-Crop sires. The WinStar stallion leads that same list with 28 stakes horses and 13 graded stakes horses.

Breaking from the outside post in the field of 11 going 5 ½-furlongs on the turf, Oceanic hustled up into third in the first furlong. He was kept in the three path around the turn, then pounced on the leading duo after turning for home. He took the lead easily and was full of run at the end while under a hand ride (WATCH RACE).

The final time on the firm turf was 1:01.49, less than a second off the track record.

Oceanic now sports a record of 4-1-3 in 18 starts and has earned $218,522 for Surfside Stables, LLC. The bay 5-year-old was bred in Kentucky by DP Racing LLC.

With his runners continually winning at the highest level, Constitution’s offspring have become highly sought after in the auction ring as well. At the upcoming Keeneland September sale, he will have 87 lots in the first three books alone, only Into Mischief and Uncle Mo will have more.
