Wednesday’s session of the 2023 OBS Spring 2-year-olds in Training sale yielded outstanding results for multiple Grade 1 winner Yoshida (JPN) when hip No. 545 sold for $270,000.
Consigned by de Meric Sales, agent, the bay colt went to trainer Ron Ellis, agent following a 10-second flat work at the Under Tack show.
Out of the multiple stakes winner Island Escape, the colt is a half-brother to multiple graded winner Tricky Escape and graded stakes-placed Felifran.
Yoshida was one of the most versatile racehorses in recent years, winning both the Woodward S. (G1) and Old Forester Turf Classic S. (G1) during his 4-year-old campaign, part of his more than $2.5 million career earnings.
