Legendary sire Distorted Humor’s $700,000 filly that sold Wednesday at the OBS 2-year-olds in Training sale was the second-highest price paid for a filly over the first two days of the June 9-12 auction in central Florida.
Selling near the end of the day’s action, hip No. 1253 Niall Brennan Sales, agent, and went to Donato Lanni, agent for Susan and Charlie Chu’s Baoma Corporation.
“We were delighted with that result,” Brennan said. “The Distorted Humor filly, they are not making too many more of them and he’s a wonderful broodmare sire, so I think if she’s a good filly, she’ll have a lot of residual value down the road.”
The bay filly, out of She’ll Be Right, is a half-sister to a pair of stakes-placed winners and is from the family of Grade 1 winners Overarching and Abscond.
Wednesday also gave Distorted Humor his newest graded stakes winner when Ebaiyra won the Prix de Royaumont (G3) at Chantilly Racecourse in France. The 3-year-old is an Aga Khan homebred.
“She had the ability to win because she has a lot of talent and I was pretty confident beforehand,” said trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre. “(T)he question now is whether, or not, she will run in the [July 12 G1] Prix de Diane [back here].“
