Splendora led every step of the way in Monday’s $100,000 Tranquility Lake S. at Del Mar to give the 4-year-old daughter of Audible her first stakes win.
After winning a Del Mar allowance race on July 24th from off the pace, Splendora changed tactics and went right to the front in the one-mile Tranquility Lake. As she passed each pole, she increased her margin on the field, ultimately coming home a 5 ½-length winner in 1:34.55
“She won earlier in the meet and I think she got confidence and got brave,” jockey Juan Hernandez said of the winner.
Splendora, who has placed second in a trio of graded stakes, is now 4-4-0 in nine starts, with earnings of $344,800 for owner By Talla Racing LLC. The dark bay filly was bred by The Elkstone Group LLC.
Audible, a top-six Third-Crop sire of 2025, is the sire of four stakes winners and the earners of over $4.6 million this year.
