Bernietakescharge the second stakes winner over Christmas weekend for Take Charge Indy

Bernietakescharge racked up her third stakes victory of 2025 in the $125,000 Bay Ridge S. at Aqueduct, scoring by 2 ¼-lengths. She is also the second stakes winner over the holiday weekend for Take Charge Indy, who accounted for Pippin S. winner Standoutsensation Friday at Oaklawn Park.

After being hustled out of the gate, Bernietakescharge and Landed battled through an opening quarter of :22.96. Landed, on the inside, had a slight advantage over Bernietakescharge around the turn and into the stretch, but down the lane Bernietakescharge asserted herself to draw away late for the win.

“She [Bernietakescharge] does [fight to win],” said trainer Domenick Schettino. “Her running style, she wants to be close or on the lead. [Jockey] Ruben [Silvera] didn’t take anything away from her today and she was training super for this race.”

Owned and bred by Robert D. Rosenthal & Bradford Bernstein, Bernietakescharge is 7-3-2 in 20 starts, with earnings of $595,830. Out of the stakes winner Berning Rose, Bernietakescharge is a a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Bernieandtherose.
