Life Is Good colt rockets to debut victory, named a TDN ‘Rising Star’

Hey Tuff Guy became the third winner for leading First-Crop sire Life Is Good with his eye-catching, 7 ¾-length maiden special weight win on Memorial Day at Churchill Downs.

The dark bay colt, owned by Big Cat Racing, was on the vanguard right from the outset of the 5 ½-furlong race, pressing Bourbon Town down the backstretch and into the turn. Hey Tuff Guy took the lead willingly with about three furlongs to go, then proceed to draw off under very little urging. Up by five lengths with a furlong to go, he continued to widen to the wire to finish in hand in 1:04.77 on a fast track.

The winner was bred in Kentucky by Frederick and May Construction and is the second foal out of Hotshot Anna, who earned nearly $1 million and had three graded stakes wins in her career.

Life Is Good’s three winners include the filly Waggley, who won the April 29 Kentucky Juvenile S. three weeks after her debut score at Keeneland. Winner of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) and Pegasus World Cup Inv. (G1), Life Is Good stands for $60,000 S&N.
