$1.05 million filly tops Keeneland for Pioneerof the Nile

Pioneerof the Nile had his second million-dollar horse at 2018 Keeneland September Yearling sale on Thursday when hip No. 977 sold for $1.05 million to Shawn Dugan, agent.

Consigned by Gainesway, agent, the filly is out of the top-class mare Graeme Six, already the dam of graded stakes winners Cali Star and Delightful Joy, as well as stakes winner Seymourdini, from her first five runners.

“She is one of the top physicals—I know everyone says that about the horse they just bought for that kind of money, but she is,” Dugan said. “We were very, very happy to get her. We were reaching very far when it was that kind of money. This filly has everything going for her.”

Pioneerof the Nile’s first seven-figure lot came during Tuesday’s session, when hip No. 297, a colt, sold for an even $1 million. Through the first four sessions of Book 1, 17 of his 21 lots sold brought at least $300,000, for an outstanding average of $463,809.
