Bellamy Road 3yo becomes newest SW

3-year-old Reigning Catfish won the $89,000 Springfield S. on the stretch-out Saturday, June 1st at Arlington Park, rallying with an impressive closing punch to prove best over nine rivals in the one-turn, one-mile stakes going away by 1 ¼ lengths on the wire.

Having never raced beyond six furlongs in his young career, Reigning Catfish relished the additional ground, becoming his sire Bellamy Road’s newest stakes winner with the victory after stopping the clock in 1:37.76 over the local Polytrack. Owned and bred by John Carver, Reigning Catfish is out of the Vicar mare Bankruptcy Babe. He is trained by Thomas Swearingen.
