Bellamy Road colt a TDN ‘Rising Star’

WinStar Farm’s King Cyrus dazzled the Monday Saratoga crowd with an 11-length debut victory in a seven furlong maiden special weight affair. The runaway victory earned the 2-year-old son of Bellamy Road the coveted TDN “Rising Star” tag.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, King Cyrus got a very confident ride from Javier Castellano, going four wide on the turn to come from third to draw alongside the leaders. From there, Castellano gave the bay colt his cue, and he immediately drew away from the field for the easiest of wins.

The first foal out of the Empire Maker mare Queen of Empire, King Cyrus was a $70,000 yearling purchase at the 2012 Keeneland September sale. He comes from the same family as the remarkable mare Dispute, who won or placed in eight grade 1 events.
