Concave 4th MSW for Colonel John
Friday, July 12, 2013
Concave's 3 1/2-length maiden special weight win Friday at Hollywood Park gave Colonel John his fourth winner from his first crop, the best among all 2013 freshman sires. All four of Colonel John's winner have come in special weight contests.

Concave got caught in the middle of a three-way duel down the backstretch, then fought off Miss Loujean around the turn and into the stretch, ultimately kicking away powerfully in the final furlong to get the five panels on the turf in :57.19.

Bred in Ontario by Windways Farm Ltd., the 2-year-old filly is trained by Doug O'Neill for Reddam Racing. O'Neill's brother, Dennis, bought Concave on behalf of Reddam for $160,000 out of the OBS Select Sale of 2-year-olds this March.
