Independence Hall is Constitution’s third maiden winner this week

After tallying three winners in the past five days, Constitution is now tied atop the First-Crop Sire list with 14 total winners. He is still also the only freshman sire with more than one graded stakes winner.

The WinStar stallion’s latest winner came Sept. 21 at Parx when the 2-year-old colt Independence Hall drew off to a 4 3/4-length win in a seven-furlong maiden special weight contest. Placed fifth a couple lengths off the lead early on, Independence Hall moved to the lead in upper stretch and pulled clear to win his debut with ease.

The dark bay juvenile is owned by Kathleen and Robert Verratti and was bred by Woodford Thoroughbreds. His dam Kalahari Cat has had nine winners, including Spiral S. (G3) winner Black Onyx.
