Paynter filly scores by six in 2018 debut

Salt Bae was much the best in her six-length maiden special weight victory Jan. 12 at Fair Grounds, leading all the way to win in hand and earn a very solid Beyer Speed Figure of 83.

The 3-year-old daughter of Paynter, out of the Distorted Humor mare Agatha, was bred by Fred Hertrich III and John Fielding. Agatha is a half-sister to Japanese superstar Agnes World, a five-time graded stakes winner, as well as three-time stakes winner My Sea Castles.

Paynter was  top-10 Freshman Sire in 2017 with 13 individual winners and four stakes horses, led by stakes winner Renaisance Frolic. His biggest crop to date are 2-year-olds of this year.
