Both 2-year-olds colts by Artie Schiller offered at the March 15-16 OBS
sale topped the $100,000 sale price, continuing the promising start of
2011. The Pauls Mill stallion also is ranked in the top 15 among all
second-crop sires in North America.
The strong showing started on day 1 with hip No. 94, a bay colt
consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, who went for $150,000 to Reeves
Thoroughbred Racing. The juvenile is out of the New Zealand bred mare
Janeian, who won the Grade 3 Royal Heroine at Hollywood Park and also
set a 1 1/16 mile track record at Hawthorne.
On day 2, it was hip No. 252, consigned by Welcome Gate Farm, who sold
for an even $100,000 to buyer Will Wright. The bay is the second foal
out of the unraced Forestry mare Se Bella. She is a half sister to Sharp
Impact, winner of the Grade 3 Lexington S. at Belmont Park.
