Two-time champion U S Ranger sires first foal

U S Ranger, a two-time Irish champion by Danzig, sired his first foal on Jan. 20 when a bay filly was born at Glendalough Farm in Lexington, Ky.

Bred by Chip Muth, the newborn filly is out of the Slew o’Gold mare No More Ironing, dam of multiple stakes winners Sneaky Quiet and Ironman Dehere.

U S Ranger was an undefeated juvenile in France before winning the Prix Djebel at Maisons-Laffitte and Waterford Testimonial S. at the Curragh as a 3-year-old. He was Irish highweight over five to seven furlongs at both 3 and 4. The last important son of Danzig to retire to stud, U S Ranger hails from the Red Ransom mare My Annette, a half-sister to Dynaformer.

U S Ranger retired to Pauls Mill in 2010, where he bred 87 mares in his first book and had the second-highest CPI among first-year stallions with 3.54. U S Ranger is set to stand his second season at Pauls Mill for a fee of $5,000 stands and nurses.
