Top-10 First-Crop sire Audible tallied his 20th winner of the year on Dec. 23 at Fair Grounds when Autie registered a 2 ¾-length maiden special weight win in his career debut.
Autie, trained by Steve Asmussen, broke on top in the six-furlong contest before backing off to chased Achromedoutcat through the first quarter-mile. He moved along side the pacesetter around the turn and was joined by Brittany’s Dream to make it a trio of leaders turning into the homestretch. Autie asserted himself in midstretch to pull away with authority in the final stages, stopping the timer in 1:11.44 on a fast track.
Autie is owned by Corinne L. & William Heiligbrodt, Coteau Grove Farms LLC, Jackpot Farm & Dusty Castille and was bred by Coteau Grove. The bay colt is a half-brother to millionaire and multiple stakes winner Zenden.
Audible’s 2-year-olds have earned in excess of $1.6 million in 2023, led by stakes winners Chi Chi and My Mane Squeeze. Audible will stand the 2024 season for $15,000 S&N.
