Lady Arwen was geared down late in her 2 ½-length victory Thursday at Saratoga in a seven-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-old fillies.
After a far less than ideal trip in her debut a month ago, Lady Arwen was the picture of perfection in her second lifetime start Thursday. She tracked pacesetter Sun and Wind for a half-mile before willing taking command outside the quarter pole. In the stretch she was never threatened and won under a hand ride.
Lady Arwen races for Neal Allread and Gold Star Racing Stable, who obtained the dark bay filly out of the OBS 2-year-olds sale in June.
Bred by Big Dom Racing and Stonegate Stables LLC, Lady Arwen is the first foal to race out of Pursuing Justice, whose siblings include four-time stakes winner Mineralogist. Second dam Seeking the Ante was a Grade 2 winner and sister to Florida Derby (G1) winner Friends Lake, while third dam Antespend was a millionaire and three-time Grade 1 winner.
Audible retired to WinStar Farm following a stellar career that included wins in the Florida Derby (G1) and Holy Bull S. (G2), as well as placing in the Kentucky Derby (G3). A son of leading sire Into Mischief, Audible bred an average of 185 mares in his first three seasons at stud.
