Book 1 Constitution colt sells for $1.3 million at Keeneland September

A bay colt by Constitution brought $1.3 million from OXO Equine on the second day of the Keeneland September Sale on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Consigned by Indian Creek, agent, the colt is produced from the Medaglia d’Oro made Solo Uno, a half-sister to millionaire and multiple graded stakes winner Tom’s Ready and graded stakes winner Jean Gros. Kindred Stables, Inc. bred the colt in Kentucky.

Also on Tuesday, Fergus Galvin, agent, went to $850,000 to secure the bid on a filly by Constitution. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales and bred in Kentucky by CHC Inc., the dark bay or brown filly is out of the Grade 1-winning Empire Maker mare Last Full Measure and is a half-sister to Spinster S. (G1) winner Valiance. This is also the family of multiple Grade 1 winner Lazy Slusan, the filly’s second dam.

Constitution, currently the No. 1 sire of 2-year-olds in 2023, was represented on the first day of the Keeneland September Sale by an $850,000 colt acquired by John Stewart. Consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, the colt is out of the Street Cry (IRE) mare Gifting. In addition to his in-demand yearlings, Constitution has been represented by 2-year-olds in training this year up to $675,000 and $625,000.
