Constitution’s Tiz the Law among 3-year-old male Eclipse Award finalists

Multiple Grade 1 winner Tiz the Law was named a finalist for the 2020 3-year-old male Eclipse Award when the year-end award nominees were announced Saturday on TVG.

Constitution was the leading Second-Crop sire of 2020 by stakes horses, with 19. Tiz the Law, his leading earners, was one of Constitution’s eight stakes winners.

After winning the Champagne S. (G1) at two, Tiz the Law had by far his best season in 2020. He started the year off with a win in the Holy Bull S. (G3), then turned in another dominating performance in the March 28 Florida Derby (G1). He then won the Belmont S. (G1) and followed that with another scintillating show in the Travers S. (G1). His four graded wins came by a combined 16 1/2-lengths.

With his gallant second-place finish in the Kentucky Derby (G1), Tiz the Law finished 2020 with a record of 4-1-0 in six starts and earnings of $2,388,300.

Tiz the Law was bred by Twin Creeks Farm and sold to his owner Sackatoga Stable for $110,000 at the 2018 Saratoga Select Yearlings sale.

Eclipse Award winners will be announced on TVG, and other outlets, during a virtual ceremony of the 50th annual Eclipse Awards on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. ET.
