WinStar Farm’s Good Samaritan, a versatile millionaire son of Harlan’s Holiday and a Graded stakes winner on dirt and turf, sired his first reported foal on Jan. 15 when a filly was born at Windmill Farm in Versailles.
Bred by Ellen Kill Kelley, the filly is produced from the Graded stakes-placed and stakes-producing Vicar mare Coulee.
“She’s a strong, precocious foal,” said John Brooks of Windmill Farm. “She’s a nice-looking filly with plenty of bone and substance.”
An impressive winner of the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) at three in his first start on dirt, Good Samaritan captured the Summer Stakes (G2) at two on the turf and added the New Orleans Handicap (G2) at four. He won or placed in eight Graded stakes during his racing career, earning $1,309,450.
A WinStar Farm homebred, Good Samaritan is out of the stakes-placed Pulpit mare Pull Dancer. His deep female family traces to blue hen mare La Troienne and includes stallions Sky Mesa and Bernstein, as well as Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Outstandingly.
