Mrs Worldwide became the fourth winner for freshman sire Global Campaign with her 2 ¾-length maiden special weight win on Independence Day at Ellis Park.
The 2-year-old filly, who was a solid third in her June 7 debut at Churchill Downs, improved on that performance with her win on Thursday. Getting a three-wide trip after breaking from the outside post in the field of nine, the chestnut filly tracked in third until she made a sweeping move for the lead coming into the stretch. She came down the lane with very good energy to get the 5 ½-furlongs in 1:06.02 over the muddy going.
Mrs Worldwide is owned by Boardshorts Stables LLC and was bred by Rebecca Ming. The filly sold to her owner for $100,000 at the OBS March 2-year-old sale.
Top-10 First-Crop sire Global Campaign already has accounted for a pair of debut maiden winners. Though he did not make his own racing debut until age 3, Global Campaign would win the Peter Pan S. (G3), defeating Belmont S. (G1) winner Sir Winston, that year. At four, he would go on to take the Woodward H. (G1) and Monmouth Cup S. (G3) and place in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). He stands the 2024 season for $12,500 S&N.
