Rivzonaroll led at every point of call in Saturday’s $75,000 Sun Power S. at Hawthorne, ultimately winning the six-furlong contest by a length to become the second stakes winner for First-Crop sire Good Samaritan (WATCH RACE).

The dark bay colt was coming off a sharp 5 ½-length maiden score in similar fashion on Oct. 14, and proved that race was no fluke with another stellar performance on Saturday. Rivzonaroll broke cleanly and led the field through a quarter-mile in :22.02, with Lookin for Bala a length back. Around the turn, Lookin for Bala got closer and loomed a big threat at the top of the stretch, but Rivzonaroll turned him away to win by a little over a length in 1:12.23 on a fast track.

Rivzonaroll was bred by Richard Ravin and is owned by Patricia’s Hope LLC and trainer Larry Rivelli’s Down the Stretch Racing Stables, Inc. The win upped the 2-year-old’s record to 2-1-1 in five starts and earnings to $80,860.

Rivzonaroll is the second stakes winner and fourth stakes horse overall for Good Samaritan. The WinStar stallion, who will stand for $7,500 S&N in 2023, has 12 individual winners thus far this year.
